About

Our eLive camp allows students to participate in classes, as well as interact with classmates, and ask questions of the instructor--all virtually from the comfort of their own home.

This class requires a computer running either Windows or Mac OS, and the free program Roblox Studio (see here for further specifications: https://developer.roblox.com/en-us/articles/Studio-Setup)

Come add your own mini-game star to the popular Roblox game galaxy. Students will use Roblox Studio, a game development platform, to create a 3D obstacle course. They will work with simple physics, create and texture set pieces, and use the Lua programming language to code game checkpoints, traps, and power-ups. Kids can also discover and test games from other creators in their special studio.

(Please read and follow these instructions carefully. Digital Dragon will open the meeting link 30 minutes prior to 9:30a class start time to help with troubleshooting--we will not start camp content until class start time.)

Digital Dragon will be offering your class through an online platform called Zoom. There are a few things you will need to do before participating in class.

Task 1: Visit the following link--it should prompt you to download Zoom.
https://zoom.us/support/download Once you’ve downloaded it, you’ll need to run and install the software.

Task 2: Please test your Zoom audio before class. See here for a how-to on that: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362283-Testing-Computer-or-Device-Audio

You will receive a class link through our reminder email the day of class.

Please note, in testing this process we encountered some issues downloading Roblox Studio with Chrome. Should you encounter issues downloading with Chrome, try a different web browser (Safari, Firefox, Edge). We had success with Safari.

This class requires a Mac or PC computer. For additional information on hardware and software requirements for Roblox Studio, please go here: https://developer.roblox.com/en-us/articles/Studio-Setup

Task 3: Ensure that you have Roblox Studio installed. Go to (https://www.roblox.com/create), and click the button mid-page that says "Start Creating". This will prompt the webpage to check and see if you already have Roblox Studio installed. If you do not, a button will appear that says “Download Studio”. Click that button.

Once downloaded, you will need to open the file to run and install Roblox Studio. Once the install is complete, it will prompt you to log-in. If your students does not already have a Roblox account, follow the directions below.

Task 4: From the login prompt, follow the link that says “Not a member yet? Sign Up”, or navigate to (https://www.roblox.com/?v=rc&rbx_medium=direct&rbx_source=com.roblox.studio). Create an account and follow instructions regarding confirming the email address.
